SEND ME A POSTCARD
Music and Lyrics by HARRY LEWIS
Miss ya’,
I’m gonna miss ya’!
I could pretend it isn’t so,
But somehow you would know.
If only I could stay.
See ya’,
I guess I’ll see ya’!
Though there is something you can do
To make me feel less blue.
There really is a way.
SEND ME A POSTCARD,
It needn’t say much.
Just a few words like,
“Let’s keep in touch.”
Then when I read it,
Like magic you’re near
Saying those words right here!
SEND ME A POSTCARD,
A postcard is fine
To say what you may in a handful of lines.
Use some clichés like,
“Wish you were here,
Come back again, my dear!
Don’t be “deep”
Keep it “light”
“Hello, [YOUR NAME]!
You all right?
Anyway,
Nothing’s new…
Ev’ry now and then I still think of you.”
Then make some Xes
And plenty of Os.
(Don’t you be stingy,
I really like those!)
Sign it, and mail it
As soon as you can
And I’ll write you back again!
You know, it’s never easy
To sing you songs and say good-bye.
Part of me stays behind.
When I try to sleep, you’ll be in my mind.
Well, that’s the show
And here’s my last bow.
Hard to believe,
But it’s time to say, “Ciao!”
God bless you all,
You’ll be in my pray’rs.
Promise you’ll write.
Take care.
